Overview
Scene is a technology start-up striving to accelerate the transformation of the physical world, by empowering the innovators in the manufacturing industry. We are building Scene Workspace, a suite of browser-based applications that deliver increased productivity, seamless collaboration, shorter product development time, and cost savings to our customers.
Applications include:
- 3D Docs — A document creation app that uses 3D CAD data to easily create documents such as assembly instructions and maintenance manuals.
- Threads (Under development) — Platform to store, manage, and share all files and data related to a product in a single place, across its lifecycle.
- Issues (Under development) — Issue tracking app to streamline design review process, and to collect and manage feedback from the shop floor.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and lead our engineering efforts. You are expected to work in a fast-paced environment and to quickly adapt to the challenges that may arise as we embark on our next phase of growth. Your work will have a major influence and direct impact on business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Technical design and implementation of software systems and cloud infrastructure of Scene.
- Review other engineers' technical designs and code.
- Work with the product team to understand user goals, design product features.
- Influence and execute the product vision by directly working with the founders.
- Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and product managers to craft the best in class experience for our users.

- Front end: TypeScript, React.js, Bablyon.js
- Back end: TypeScript (Node.js), Prisma (ORM), tRPC

Requirements
- Minimum 5 year's experience in web development.
- Strong knowledge and experience with AWS, Node, and other backend tech.
- Experience of front-end development using TypeScript and React, or similar experience developing UI applications using equivalent statically typed languages.
- Dedication to code quality, performance and continuous improvement.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Fluent spoken Japanese.
- Experience working in a startup.
- Experience with WebGL frameworks.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: 8M ~ 10M JPY, with generous stock options.
